Hi everyone. Sorry long time no post! For those who don't know me or who may have forgotten as I haven't posted in years (but read everyday), I collect ancient beads, mainly so-called islamics, and of course morfias. Just because I love them. I have been fortunate enough to travel, work, live in Africa for the last 15 years or so, and am currently working in Mali. I have seen the beads above-mentioned. They are part of a recent discovery from the Segou area. 160 morfias altogether (see first picture)and all the eye-beads on the photos posted by Tasart are with me as I write (some on the second picture). I was first puzzled as to whether they were authentic (before I could actually touch them) because, as far as I am concerned, it was the first time I could see such quantity and such immaculate quality at the same time. And to be honest, I felt like having an overdose because when you are looking for something elusive or scarce and you find plenty, the thrill somehow goes away. Until you have them in hand, that's when the passion comes back. These beads are really gorgeous. Any comments or questions or pictures, just ask please, I am not touchy!
