The owner is my good friend Karen, who lived in Mauritania for 7 years and those little hangers are amber. Karen is a beadaholic, espec. ancient beads and Mauritanian beads. I'll check again with her, but I would be surprised these are anything else but amber. Although kiffa are not my preferred beads I personally think this is a fantastic necklace and design.
