I was just reading the Peter Francis review of the Picard book on millefiori beads. He makes a point that most (89%) of the milles made before WWI were made from composite canes, not cased canes like the one shown here. I have images of only a few sample cards of Venetian beads that are pre- 1900, and none show any millefiori beads at all. The cane pattern on this bead would indicate a date more like the 1920s, IMHO, if the bead is Venetian. Would like to know about any info you have that indicates an early 1800s provenance.
