Original Message: beads, homo sapiens, and neanderthals |

I've been watching a fascinating show about early humans. An interesting observation is that neanderthal habitation sites do not contain beads. It is considered a behavioral adaptation of modern humans, homo sapien, to establish trade networks and contact between neighboring groups. Beads are found in early homo sapien sites and is one identifier of them when bones are absent. Beads were traded far from original sources, especially shells.
