Thank you, Stefany! That makes perfect sense about the materials and construction, and I've been repremanding myself a little for automatically thinking "China" when it easily could have been Japan. I could really only make out the wave pattern until you mentioned Japan, when I then recognized some of the claw-like wave tips we see in some Japanese art . . .
