Handmade necklace made by a U.S. artisan features seven vintage handmade leather talismans from Ethiopia with hand carved agate beads. The talismans are worn individually for protection in the Coptic Christian community and contain religious notes inside that are sealed at either end. Talismans range from 2" to 2-1/2" long and are generally 1" wide. Toggle clasp is brass with applied ornamentation and is signed SAKI. Total length is 16" and weight is about 1/4 ounce. Talismans are strung as they would have originally been and therefore can be considered unaltered. Condition is very good, typical wear to talismans but no damage, with one talisman missing its end cap but there still appears to be something inside it.
